It is with the very deepest of sadness that we announce and mourn the passing of our dear friend and colleague Phil Ball. Phil died doing what he loved, returning from a customer event in London networking and promoting our brand.

Phil joined Clevertouch in its infancy and was instrumental to its growth, becoming a fully invested Director of the company. To many he was the face of Clevertouch and the reason they chose to work with us in the first place. He became a close friend and mentor to many Clients, Colleagues and Business Partners alike. To the employees and their children he was not just a friend and colleague but he was Father Christmas at the Christmas Party, a job he relished and delivered with alacrity every year.

He had so many great stories and anecdotes of people he met, places he’d been and things he’d done, deliberately or otherwise that we just referred to them affectionately as ‘Ballyisms’ and we have been regaling them this week as we remember the passing of our dear friend.

He has recently been described by a mournful Client as a ‘Legend’, and he was but even that doesn’t seem to do him enough justice, he was simply the kindest, most considerate and caring person anyone could ever know. He was the most decent person imaginable, loved by all. Phil was devoted to and doted on his wife Wendy, his children Karl and Ria and still had enough capacity for his friends, his company and his work colleagues too. He didn’t really need to work, he had been very successful many times over but he did so because he loved his company and we loved him right back, he got the balance just right. Right now we are all feeling a monumental and deep sense of loss. RIP the irrepressible and irreplaceable Phil Ball.

We will be holding a celebration in memory of Phil in March/April local to the office in Hampshire in a pub he loved and we would love work Colleagues and Clients past and present to join us; to toast to Phil and to contribute their memories to our book of remembrance to be later gifted to Phil’s family. Messages left on this post will also be collated into the remembrance book.

As Phil loved sailing and felt at peace when he was on his boat his family have requested donations, rather than flowers, go to the RNLI, as sailing was so dear to his heart.
