Marketo’s Marketing Suspended functionality for communication management

Being able to easily control and manage the suppression of contact records from receiving communications reduces risk and process, and creates a uniform approach to communication management.

A system field within Marketo called ‘Marketing Suspended’ – through using Smart Campaigns –automatically supresses records from receiving certain or all communication types depending on pre-defined criteria.

There are 2 common uses:

  • Lead Management

When records pass through certain stages of a pre-defined Lead Management process, it may not be appropriate for Marketing to continue to communicate to them.

  • Preference centre

Besides being able to alter preferences, the Marketing Suspended function allows individuals to set cool off periods from when they receive communications. Within the flow of a Smart Campaign, you can automatically suspend and unsuspend the record.
